vada pavs VS shami kababs

The vada pav or indian burger u may call it.I didnt really relish it but ya now that i cant have.(In kashmir u dont find it!) i miss it sometimes..lol

It consists of a vada, served in a bun or roll (pav, a Portuguese loanword.) The vada is usually potato-based patties. The finished vada is wrapped in bread and served with condiments such as chutney, red chilli powder or fried green chilli (sometimes fried and salted). A common accompaniment is dry red chilli and coconut chutney. It is a form for breakfast ,snacks for a mumbaiite or a punite. It is yummy when server hot.

Now lets come to the kashmiri very own mouth watering shami kababs…………. It has a history behind it:

The Shami Kabab literally means Syrian Kabab in Urdu, Persian and Arabic. These were introduced to South Asia during the Mughal era by Muslim emigrants from the Middle East. They had employed cooks from all over the Muslim world to serve in the royal kitchens. Some of the cooks were from Syria as well. The Sham refers to either Syria specifically or the Levant in general, and these kebabs literally means Syrian kebabs or Levantine kebabs in Arabic. While in India, the word Sham is evening in Hindi and Urdu and sham-e-Awadh, evening in Lucknow of yore with a nice fragrance.
I love eating them especially made by my mother and mother in law…hehe.I guess in kashmir ,mugals had a deep impact and same is in case of food too.It s made of minced meat. With it chana dal, cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns, cardamom, red chilli powder, garlic and some bread. Its shaped in from of flattened ball.Served with chutney .Its aroma just makes your taste buds swinging..wow..

and most important :

Alhamdulillaahi-lladhee At’amanaa, Wa Saqaanaa Wa Ja’alanaa Minal Muslimeen
(Praise be to Allah, Who fed us and gave us drink and made us Muslims.)

I always forget it
